Enrico Rava

New York Days

Enrico Rava lives in New York and is Italian born, He is also an incredible Jazz trumpeter, in fact the best known italian jazz player. He started out on Trombone playing in Dixieland style but then heard Miles Davis and had a life altering experience as many of us do and changed to Trumpet. He is mainly a Bebop man with some work in the Avant Garde style. The late 60’s saw him playing with Steve Lacy, Carla Bley, Paul Motian, and Lee Konitz to name a few. The 70’s and 80’s saw him playing with Pat Methany, Joe Lovano, Michael Petrucciani, Joe Henderson, John Ambercrombe, and Cecil Taylor. Mr. Rava has gotten around a bit and his discography is huge to say the least.

New York Days is Enrico Rava’s latest album on the ECM label. He always surrounds himself with excellent talent, and has such a beautiful touch and sound on the Trumpet… you must experience!!
